The Song of Leeawuleena ( Lake St Clair ) I was at Lake St Clair National Park in March - Oct 2010. This unique opportunity has enabled me to intimately study the natural scenery of this heavenly, visually beautiful place and soulfully communicate with the spirituality of nature's silent wilderness. Lake St Clair is also known by its Aboriginal name - LEEAWULEENA meaning ' SLEEPING WATER '. In recognition of the indigenous Aboriginal traditional owners and custodians of this land, I have named my project: The Song of Leeawuleena ( Lake St Clair ). My passionate commitment to the project stems from my deep dedication to the environment and a reverence for the awesome beauty of nature , furthermore, being neither indigenous Aboriginal nor European, the direct and total engagement with my project remains uniquely without compromise by any preconception stemming from racial, political and cultural heritage. My inspiration was the resonance of past indigenous Aboriginal history present in this poetic lake scape, I became compelled to channel the spirit and mysticism of this place through my art photos and paintings. The Song of Leeawuleena ( Lake St Clair ) is the reflection of my most sincere and sensitive perceptions, I dedicate it as expression of gratitude for nature's gift to humankind - Lake St Clair National Park. I wish to express my appreciation to Lake St Clair National Park staff. Also thank you to the Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel and all the local community artists and members who have kindly assissted me in my project during my period of stay. |
